Albert Goodman is a firm steeped in history. A history that has shaped the practice into what it is today, and one that we are proud to continue.
In 1866, Albert Goodman set up an accountancy practice at 3 Hammet Street, Taunton. He went on to become an Associate of the Society of Accountants, and then one of the very first members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
In 1893 Albert Goodman became Albert Goodman & Sons, and the firm opened an office in London seven years later. The London practice operated from this office until the mid-1960s when, after a series of mergers and acquisitions, it became part of Moores Rowland International.
Meanwhile, the Taunton practice continued to prosper. During the 1970s, '80s and '90s Albert Goodman merged with, and acquired, a number of other firms – culminating in its most recent merger with Weymouth-based Coyne Butterworth Hardwicke. Now, Albert Goodman is one of the largest accountancy firms in the South West, with offices in Taunton, Yeovil, Chard, Weston-super-Mare, Sedgemoor (Bridgwater) and Weymouth.
